When Life Packs a Punch,
Find the Punchline

In I’m Sorry I Cremated You, Jaclyn Michelle Smith quickly and intuitively cuts to the heart of our universal experience with grief and demonstrates how laughing at the irony of our human condition can provide the space to breathe and create meaning from the absurdity of it all.

A Word From The Author

Jaclyn Michelle Smith

Author • Humorist • Speaker

2022 was one of the hardest years of my life. I stepped into the role of caregiver for my father, faced the heartbreaking decision of checking him into a Veterans’ nursing home against his will, and eventually lost him to Dementia. I survived it all with the unwavering help of friends and family, a lot of improv comedy, and my trusty journal. That journal ended up becoming the basis for my book, I’m Sorry I Cremated You. It was simply too full of magic—both happy and sad—not to share with the world.

I wrote this book for my fellow Gen Xers and Millennials who find themselves parenting their parents and losing them. Please know that you are not alone. As the saying goes, we’re all just walking each other home. My deepest hope is that when you read my book, you feel less alone, find reasons to smile, and maybe even catch yourself laughing.

I see you.
